Artist Feature: MarjorieMae Shop

Each month, Austen Adjacent features an artist/ crafter/ creator making bookish goods. They can be creations inspired by literature or crafts created from books themselves; fan works created for their own enjoyment, or articles sold in small businesses.

This month’s feature is on the MarjorieMae Shop, a business based in Nebraska that sells a variety of crafts on Etsy.

A family member gifted me a couple Pride and Prejudice themed items from their shop, and they are beautiful and well made. A perfect addition to my collection!

  • The purse made from the blue bonded leather cover of Pride & Prejudice (from the Barnes and Noble Collectible Editions) is lined with black fabric, contains two small interior pockets, and has a snap closure. I can even fit some paperbacks inside when I need reading material on the go!
  • A chain necklace with a pendant containing a quote from the book, along with a large turquoise bead, makes a beautiful piece. The quote featured: “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!”
  • A laminated bookmark made from the pages of the book happens to detail a scene where Elizabeth plays the pianoforte while Mr. Darcy and Mrs. Hurst look on.
  • And finally, a pocket size Pride & Prejudice book page journal contains several pages of blank, unlined paper. The cover of the journal is a collage of cut pages from the Pride & Prejudice book.
Clockwise from top left: Pride & Prejudice bookmark, book quote necklace, book cover purse, and book page journal.

These beautiful, handmade items make me happy and are a great way to show appreciation for the book lover in your life.
